About Cuyahoga Falls

Greetings from Mayor Don Walters

Mayor Don Walter Headshot

Welcome to Cuyahoga Falls!  Established in 1812, our City has long been known for its nationally recognized services, low utility rates, superior safety forces, award-winning programs, and abundant recreational opportunities.  Cuyahoga Falls, founded on solid principles and core values, continues to thrive and grow as a community that offers big-city services with small-town amenities.  Whether you are a resident or visitor to this site, I hope you will find our webpage valuable as you navigate through the information provided. As Mayor of this exceptional City, I encourage you to “Experience the Falls” and all we have to offer!

Cuyahoga Falls is rich in history, from its start in 1812 to the present.  In 1986, the City of Cuyahoga Falls tripled in landmass due to the merger between the City and Northampton Township.  We were the first two communities to successfully merge by voter approval – thus making State of Ohio history.  The residents of both communities had a vision for a greater tomorrow.  This merger has allowed our City to grow by expanding our housing stock and providing additional industrial space for our businesses to grow and relocate.

With more than 50,000 residents, the City of Cuyahoga Falls continues to pursue aggressive growth strategies with a strong vision for the future.  We are proud of our wonderful $26 million state-of-the-art Natatorium & Wellness Center.  We encourage residents and visitors alike to join us at our magnificent public festival and special event site located at the heart of our town, known as Falls River Square.  We are the home of Blossom Music Center, the professional 18-hole Brookledge Golf Course, the famous outdoor WaterWorks Family Aquatic Center, and more than 4,8000 acres of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

New housing development in Cuyahoga Falls

Featuring turn-of-the-century homes and new, upscale housing developments, our community offers a variety of housing options for the new family, empty nesters, and everyone in between. We are very proud of our public school systems, Cuyahoga Falls and Woodridge.  We also offer many private and parochial school choices.  All of our school administrators and teachers strive for academic excellence to make our students, who are our future, the very best they can be.

Finally, the Development Department continues to play a vital role in the expansion of our local manufacturers.  Through the Enterprise Zone and Community Reinvestment Area programs, the City has realized over $100 million in new investment and has retained and created over 2,100 jobs. We believe that fact speaks volumes for the way we handle the business practices we have put in place over the past several years.

A progressive city with family values, Cuyahoga Falls is truly a place we call home, and we hope you will too.

– The Honorable Don Walters, Mayor
