Falls Cancer Club
There’s still time to get your team of 2 together to drive the Road Rally/Scavenger Hunt. As a driver/navigator team you will be answering questions, stopping at various locations and learning historical and fanciful facts while maneuvering the streets by following a predetermined course. Points will be earned by time, answer and various items that will be “scavenged” along the way. Each vehicle will receive a commemorative dash plaque and the value of the items that will be acquired throughout the course have a value of over $100.
- The Road Rally will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 and will start at the Cuyahoga Falls High School parking lot at 431 Stow Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Arrive by 12:30pm for line up and the rally will begin at 1:00 pm. The rally will complete by 4:30pm with an awards presentation and snacks.
The Falls Cancer Club, Inc. is holding this Road Rally to raise funds to help pay for our cancer patients’ bills. We have been a 501(c)3 organization since 1948 helping over 1150 victims of cancer alleviate the effects of the financial burden of their diagnosis. Because we’re a volunteer organization, 100% of all the funds generated from this event will go directly to our patients’ needs. Won’t you join in the fun? Zane’s Foundation 5th Annual Special Needs Awareness Walk & Fun Day – September 13, 2014. The Zane’s Foundation Board members are busy preparing for their 5th Annual Special Needs Awareness Walk and Fun Day that we held at Bolich Middle School’s Layborne Field in Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday, September 13, 2014. This Walk & Fun Day is instrumental in helping Zane’s Foundation with it’s mission to provide services for children and adults with special needs. We do this in two ways: by offering educational meetings that parents can attend so that they can continue to educate themselves to become a great advocate for their loved one and also by assisting the family with funding. Quarterly funds are available for things like day camp, therapies, medical expenses, communicative devices, respite, summer camp, or other assistive equipment that are necessary to help meet daily challenges. Zane’s Foundation, Inc. helps families who live in northeast Ohio. Sponsor endorsed shirts are being sold for $10 each, with larger shirts costing a dollar or two more. Goodie bags are being filled with free items and coupons from our sponsors for the participants of the Walk. The last day to order a shirt is August 31, 2014. Donatos Pizza in Cuyahoga Falls is doing a Dine to Donate promotion for the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce Area Foundation for the scholarship fund. This will take place on the first Thursday of each month from 11am to 5pm from September 2014 – May 2015. Dine in or take out only. Donatos then will give back a percent of the sales to the scholarship fund each month. The Chamber of Commerce Area Foundation awards scholarships every year to Cuyahoga Falls/Silver Lake resident graduating seniors. Serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties was chosen as the local charity partner for Silver Lake Country Club’s CLUBCORP Charity Classic golf outing on Thursday, Sept. 25. “We are sincerely appreciative to Silver Lake Country Club for choosing Goodwill as its local charity partner,” said Gregory Morton, vice president, mission services & public relations, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties. “The funds we receive from the golf outing will be used to support Goodwill’s Elizabeth Clark Emergency Fund in Summit County. This fund is utilized in collaboration with other organizations to help address the emergency needs of individuals in the community in obtaining clothing, furniture and household items at Goodwill retail locations.”

Two safety courses offered in September. A 10-hour construction safety course is scheduled for Sept. 9-10. Those who should attend include people involved in the construction industry, both public and private employers.
A 10-hour industrial safety course is scheduled for Sept. 15-16 at the BWC North Canton Service Center. The course is geared for individuals involved in general industry. This includes public and private employers in any industry except construction, agriculture and maritime. Both courses are free, for-credit courses. What can I submit for Chamber Member Business Announcements?
The announcement information that you submit to the Chamber will only be accepted via email only and must be strictly related to your Chamber Member business in which you are a paid Member of the Chamber of Commerce. The “Business News Announcements” must be related to: a new service your business is offering, a special “Members Only” discount and offer, office furniture for sale, hiring a new employee for your business, new business ribbon cutting, business anniversary invitation, business open house announcement, new business address, office space for rent, celebrating a business anniversary, etc.
How much space can I have for a Chamber Member Business Announcement?
300 words or fewer of text only and one listing per Chamber Member business per month. The Chamber reserves the right to edit all submissions and use fewer or more words submitted.
What is the deadline to submit information?
The deadline to submit a Chamber Member Business Announcement is the 25th of the month by 12 noon and it will run in the next month’s email. Anything submitted after that date will run in the following month’s e-blast. You may also send an email with your announcement/news to the Chamber Membership by accessing the email database by logging in to the Chamber website with your user name/password. Please email the Chamber if you need help logging on.
