EntrepreNEW is an innovative and immersive program for students who are interested in learning about creating their own businesses. Developed by the Woodridge Local School District in partnership with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, the Burton D. Morgan Foundation and the Six District Educational Compact, the program will engage students to explore options to take ideas and turn them into a successful reality.
EntrepreNEW is designed to be fully experience based. To do this, students will learn from and work side by side with entrepreneurs. EntrepreNEW will offer three options for business and community partnerships. These will be the foundation of the program and offer a project based/immersive experience to student participants.
Direct Mentors – Work directly with students during the program. Mentors will meet in person with their students monthly and communicate via technology on an as-needed basis. Every attempt will be made to align students with a mentor in their field of interest for business creation. Time commitment includes one class visit per month, communicating via email and other technology with students and collaborating on other work as needed by students.
Entrepreneurial Guest Speaker Series – Host EntrepreNEW students at their workplace for a visit or series of visits as they share their expertise in a particular area of entrepreneurship. Guests will include professionals in tax, law, web/graphic design, marketing, finance, branding, community development and more. Time commitment includes 3-6 hours once per year in your workplace or a visit to the class. All visits will be filmed for promotional purposes.
Entrepreneurs that are interested should:
- Value the need for a high school program focused on an entrepreneurship pathway
- Be interested in sharing their story of success and failure
- Be willing to be videotaped and put onto the curriculum website
If you or your business is interested in working with EntrepreNEW, contact Emily Knight, Entrepreneurship Educator for Woodridge Local Schools, at email@example.com for more information. Knight is responsible for creating and facilitating the program and the grant development.
