2016 State of the Chamber

13 Dec 2016 State of the Chamber

2016 Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce State of the Chamber
The Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce celebrated 90 years as a successful Chamber of Commerce in 2016. We are the second oldest Chamber in Summit County.  Your success is our chamber’s business! We THANK YOU for your continued support!
The Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce started in 1926 with an innovative group of business leaders just like you looking to do commerce with each other. Through the years the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce has evolved into the progressive Chamber you are a part of today! We couldn’t be more proud!

We continue to assist our business leaders in understanding the processes involved on the many levels required for business growth which includes building beneficial relationships. We serve as the catalyst to help our businesses network, which helps them with business introductions that help lead to business exposure and business referrals.

The programs, events and services we provide for our Chamber Members are the best a Chamber can offer! We are sure you will agree!
We also serve as a visitor/relocation center and are also known as the one-stop place to call for all types of business information, business referrals, relocation information, visitor information and general information.  We never know who is going to call or stop by the Chamber Office. We are one of the busiest offices in town!

As we move forward 2017 we would like to reflect on what a positive year 2017 was for us.
We thank you for being a big part of this!

Our membership continues to be strong with 354 members that include 73 new members and a very active roster!  We are excited to keep moving forward!  Some of our new members came through member referrals and we can’t thank you enough! We really appreciate that you see the value of your membership and confidence in our Chamber to invite a fellow business to join us.  Thank you!

2016 Chamber Members

In 2016 the Chamber of Commerce was honored by the City of Cuyahoga Falls as the community celebrated National Arbor Day. There was a special tree planting ceremony recognizing the Chamber because of the significant impact we have had on our community. We were honored on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Kennedy Park, Cuyahoga Falls.

Our Chamber Member Ambassador Program continues to grow with over 30 Chamber Members committed to the mission of our Chamber. Our Chamber Ambassadors assist at all our new business ribbon cuttings as well as meeting and greeting at our events. Look for the green and white ambassador tags on our business leaders.

2016 Ambassadors

In 2016 we cut 20 “Ribbons of Success” with Mayor Don Walters and our Chamber Ambassadors for our Chamber sponsored Ribbon Cutting program. Many of these are brand new startup businesses and we are excited that they are a part of our Chamber and City.  They will see the support from our fellow Chamber Members and City of Cuyahoga Falls. We are so pleased with our City and Mayor’s support for these special Ribbon Cuttings! This means a lot!

Our most popular professional small business program is our Goldmine Referral Groups which has grown to 4 strong groups of successful business leaders who meet weekly and develop business relationships that help lead to business referrals.  We also host 2 well attended Goldmine Socials per year that are tied to a local Cuyahoga Falls charity donation drive. This year we collected paper towels, toilet paper, bath products for Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. We also hosted 2 ALL Goldmine Group Meetings which brought all 4 groups together for a powerhouse networking session. These groups are talked about all over Northeast Ohio as well as by our local fellow Chambers of Commerce! 10+ years and going strong!

Another successful program in 2016 for our business leaders was the Sales & Marketing Sleuths lunch sessions which provided a roundtable open discussion to help our business leaders learn as they shared what works for them in their businesses.  And our Executive Roundtable Sessions which brought our business owners together as a support system and network program you cannot find anywhere else!

Our First Friday Networking ON THE GO is now 8 Chambers of Commerce strong with over 100 attendees monthly. This one hour coffee and networking reception has proven to be the place to be monthly! Introductions are being made and business cards are being exchanged which is the beginning of many new business relationships between Chamber Members from so many different types of business. Diversity!

The “Chamber Trend” of Chambers of Commerce working together continues even stronger than ever!
We continue to lead the charge on this with our local neighboring Chambers of Commerce. This year we worked with 15 area Chambers of Commerce to bring a professional business leaders “business after hours” called
Multi-Chamber Social Networking Business After Hours in which tickets sold out in record time with approximately 300 business leaders attending to network after work. The date in 2017 is set for April 18, 2017. Stay tuned for more details.

We also continue to partner with Stow, Kent Area and Streetsboro Chambers of Commerce to bring you our yearly Chamber Speed Networking Session that also sells out in record time.  So as you see all the possibilities and opportunities that are endless as we continue to work and forge relationships with our local neighboring Chambers of Commerce!

Our popular Cash Mobs & Connections which show small business support gather our business leaders and residents to go out and mob/support 2 different Chamber Members 2 different times per year. All are welcome at these Cash Mobs! New locations will be announced in 2017!

Our Falls After Five Networking Receptions continue to be popular with our Chamber Member business leaders.  These after work receptions offer our Chamber Members and guests an opportunity to support a fellow Chamber Member business and network. In 2017 we are adjusting the time of theses receptions to start at 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.  This will give everyone an opportunity to come earlier and be home earlier!  Other area Chambers of Commerce have done this with great success.

Also in 2016 we partnered with Stow and Twinsburg Chambers to bring a 1 day professional development session for our Chamber Member business owners. It was a sellout event with continuing education credit with a national speaker who wowed the crowd with many take-aways!

We are also working on a 2017 Women & Wisdom quarterly reception in partnership with Western Reserve Hospital. Stay tuned for more details.

We are also planning a 2017 Businessmen’s Night Out for our Chamber business leaders. Stay tuned for more details!

Our Cuyahoga Falls Young Professionals group started in 2016 with 2 business mixers that were so popular amongst our Young Professionals crowd. These popular business mixers will continue in 2017.  We are also adding a Jr. Young Professionals Group that will attract high school students and business leader presenters. These sessions will offer assistance on how to create a resume to soft job skills. Stay tuned for more details!

We are also partnered with the City of the Cuyahoga Falls for the Cuyahoga Falls Better Block program that was one of the most successful business and community events for all. There were over 30 pop up style local businesses in which 2 of them have already secured new space in Cuyahoga Falls and several others are still looking and want to locate in Cuyahoga Falls.  This pop-up business trend is all over many cities in the United States and now Cuyahoga Falls.  There is also potential for a Night Market in 2017.

We will also continue our partnership with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Cuyahoga Falls City Schools and Western Reserve Hospital to help promote awareness on the very successful citywide Not Me, I’m Drug Free Program.

We had 2 very successful fundraisers for our Chamber Scholarship Foundation. Thank you to our Chamber Members who supported these! We hosted a California Dreamin’ Wine Tasting/Small Plates event at The Wine Mill which was a wonderful success. We also worked with Metropolis Popcorn to sell popcorn for 40% of proceeds back to the Chamber Scholarship Foundation which is allowing us to add an additional $1000 scholarship that will directly benefit a Cuyahoga Falls/Silver Lake resident graduating senior. Thank you Chamber Members for purchasing popcorn!  We also thank our Chamber Members who purchased Rolling Jackpot Tickets every month at the Chamber Luncheon Meetings. ½ the proceeds went to a lucky Chamber Member and the other ½ proceeds went into the Chamber Scholarship Foundation.  In 2017 we are looking into a Community Clam Bake Fundraiser and a Kayak Fundraiser with Burning River Adventures.

In 2016 we worked with the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Great Lakes Publishing to produce a wonderful Cuyahoga Falls Magazine that highlights many of our Chamber Member businesses as well as showcases what a great city Cuyahoga Falls is. We also produced a NEW Cuyahoga Falls Street Map that is always well received by our community. And the biggest publication of 2016 was the Chamber of Commerce 90th Anniversary Magazine that spotlighted the Chamber of Commerce and our Chamber Members from 1926 – 2016. We thank Record Publishing/Falls News Press for making this beautiful keepsake publication happen.
We also thank all our Chamber Member advertisers’ for making these publications possible.

We also hope you have enjoyed a newer more modern Chamber Website that is more user friendly and includes a new log in feature for our Chamber Members as well as easier sign-ups for Chamber events. We are using software called ChamberMaster.

In 2016 we introduced a NEW MEMBERS ONLY APP that is an easy way for Chamber Members to access and register for Chamber Events as well as access to the very popular Membership Directory.

Our Chamber of Commerce website stats show from January 1, 2016 to date there have been 39,871 searches through the (website) Chamber Business Member Directory. That is approximately 100 searches per day on the Membership Directory.  People are looking for goods and services YOU offer as a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce.

And a very special thank you to all our Chamber Member Volunteers, Committee Members and Board of Directors who continue to give their time, efforts and expertise to help make our Chamber one of the best in Northeast Ohio.
